Description

Transform frozen okra into crispy, golden perfection using your air fryer. This Indian-spiced recipe eliminates slime and delivers restaurant-quality results in just 15 minutes with minimal oil.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 11 oz frozen okra cuts
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garam masala
  • ¼ teaspoon amchur powder (or 2 teaspoons lemon juice)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ¼ cup almond flour (blanched)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Remove frozen okra from freezer – do not thaw. Pat off any visible ice crystals with paper towel.
  2. In a large bowl, combine red chili powder, turmeric, garam masala, and salt. Drizzle olive oil over frozen okra and toss to coat.
  3. Sprinkle spice mixture over oiled okra and toss thoroughly. Add almond flour and toss until evenly coated.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Arrange coated okra in air fryer basket in a single layer.
  5. Air fry for 7 minutes until you hear gentle sizzling.
  6. Open air fryer, shake basket vigorously to redistribute okra. Separate any stuck pieces with tongs.
  7. Continue air frying for 5-8 more minutes until deep golden-brown with slightly charred edges.
  8. Remove immediately and sprinkle with amchur powder or lemon juice. Add extra salt if desired.

Notes

  • Do NOT thaw frozen okra – use straight from freezer for best results
  • Don’t overcrowd the basket – cook in batches if needed
  • Shake basket thoroughly at halfway point for even cooking
  • For extra crispy results, increase temperature to 425°F and add 2-3 minutes
  • Chickpea flour can substitute for almond flour
  • Store leftovers in airtight container up to 3 days
  • Reheat in air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes
