Description

A rich, cheesy, one-pot meal featuring tender ground beef, Italian spices, and tomatoes mixed with creamy spaghetti. This comforting dish is easy to make and perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 oz spaghetti, broken in half
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large, deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  3. Add the broken spaghetti, crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, beef broth, dried oregano, dried basil, and red pepper flakes (if using) to the skillet. Stir to combine.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the spaghetti is al dente and most of the liquid has been absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring, until the sauce is creamy and heated through.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For a richer sauce, use full-fat dairy like heavy cream.
  • Pre-measuring ingredients before you start will help the cooking process go smoothly.
  • If you prefer, you can break the spaghetti in half to make it easier to fit in the pot.
  • Don’t overcook the pasta; it will continue to soften as it sits in the sauce.
  • Stir in the cheese off the heat to prevent clumping.
