Description
A hearty and comforting one-dish meal featuring seasoned ground beef, creamy sauce, and melted cheese, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cups cooked pasta
- 1 can (10.5oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: diced bell peppers or mushrooms
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain any excess fat.
- In a large bowl, mix the browned beef and onion with the cooked pasta, cream of mushroom soup, and milk until fully combined.
- Stir in 1.5 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch casserole dish and top with the remaining cheese.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let the casserole cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a healthier option, swap ground beef for ground turkey or chicken.
- To achieve extra bubbly and brown cheese, bake for an additional 5 minutes, watching closely.
- Ensure excess fat is drained after cooking the beef to prevent a greasy casserole.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
- Reheat by thawing overnight in the refrigerator and baking at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes, or until warmed through.
